The Classic Celadine

People often use the unfortunate word “common” for Celadine (aka Hawaiian Yellow, Hawaiian Lei). I prefer “classic.” In the plumeria world, it is one of the most fragrant, prolific bloomers, easy rooters, and vigorous growers. It is the most used variety in Hawaii for leis because of its wonderful fragrance and long keeping quality (how long it lasts when picked). It’s a must for every collection, and the perfect starter plumeria.
Some people estimate that there are 100s of variations of Celadine out there, due to seed propagation. But here is an easy way to see if your white/yellow (officially a yellow) bloom is a true Celadine. It is the only plumeria with an extra vein on the leaf. Check out this image below and then go check!
